UNIMAT1 Workshops:
We offer a variety of workshops. They differ in goals and skill level, since they
address the needs of the participants (this helps explain their popularity).
Due to an overwhelming response timely registration is not only advised, but
required in order to participate.

Hands-On at Technisches Museum Wien
Beginner Level
The main emphasis here is on the correct handling of the Unimat 1.
Adult beginners as well as children learn how to put the machines together
and how to use them the right way. All the participants end up with a self-made
work piece they can be proud of, a lot of confidence handling Unimat 1 and quite
a bit of know-how as far as machining in general is concerned.
This workshop is also ideal for potential Unimat 1 buyers, who would like to purchase the unit themselves, but are not quite sure yet. It gives them the opportunity to test the machine as well as their own skills.
(Up to 12 participants)

Advanced Level
The goal here is to further enhance handling of Unimat 1 and work your way toward perfection. During several sessions a work piece is put together from
elements and parts made out of a variety of materials (wood, metal and plastic)
The participants work their way toward becoming experienced machinists by means of learning the principles and tricks for fine-tuning the equipment and
handling a variety of materials for the best results.
The modular character of the Unimat 1 allows for an unlimited number of possible configurations for various projects which in turn inspire and demand creativity from all involved.
(Up to 12 participants)

"Don´t be bored, bore holes in wood" Workshops for children ages 6 and up
The absolute child-friendly Unimat 1 gives us the opportunity to do our most
favorite kind of work: working on creative projects with children, which we tend
to view more as a privilege. It makes us really proud of what we do and achieve.
Just picture yourself looking into the eyes of a seven-year old girl proudly presenting her first self made saltshaker to her perhaps even more proud parents. We are pretty confident that you know what we are talking about.

We bring our workshops to schools, child care centers etc. How about ordering
our fun loaded workshop for your next party or other suitable event? We will come to you and bring along a lot of fun and creativity. We are capable of handling also the largest of events. The yearly "Magic of Advent" in Vienna gives us the opportunity to work with up to 15,000 children during those few, truly magic weeks preceeding Christmas.

During our workshops we put our main emphasis on providing a guaranteed sense of achievement for every child participating in it. No matter what kind
and no matter how nice, every work piece becomes a piece of art carrying the
unmistakable signature of its creator, permeated with sense of achievement and
augmented by pride. With all those "ingredients" there is absolutely no wrong way of doing it.

As far as equipment, we work exclusively with the child-friendly Unimat 1 jig-saws, drill-presses, sanders and woodturning lathes. We’ve worked successfully and
injury-free with thousands of kids various ages. Therefore we are confident that
our high quality and safe design can easily live up to our claims.
The minimum age recommendation (6 years and up) is purely based on the fact that at this developmental stage the children become more capable of following projects which require a little longer attention span. Report: Workshop at the Technical Museum Vienna
